How to study better in 5 simple steps!

Can't focus on your study? Here are few tips!
Here is the story. You sit down to study, and you end up sharpening pencils or thinking about your next meal, if yes then don’t worry just follow these few simple steps to study better:

Prepare your mind:

I would regard this as one of the most important step because our brain is a machine that we can control. Before you start studying tell yourself “okay! So now I’m going to study” or “I’m sure it would be fun to read”. Try some breathing exercises (it would help you to relax and concentrate better.)

Grab your essentials:

First of all, select a quiet place to study such as your room or a library. Collect your notebooks and textbooks so that you won’t have to get up. Don’t forget to grab some colorful highlighters and marker as it helps you learn better. Organize your study area so that it won’t be messy.

Get rid of distractions:

Avoid every single distraction such as mobile phones, tablets. It’s better to turn them off or put them on airplane mode so that you can concentrate well. Because if you don’t, you’ll get distracted by notifications, phone calls, and text messages. There are websites and application such as BreakFree and Selfcontrol that help you resist websites that you cannot avoid.

Reward yourself:

If you reward yourself for getting good grades then, your brain will develop a healthy relationship with studying. You can tell yourself “umm so if I’m going to study for half an hour with full focus after that I’ll watch my favorite show, listen to music or play my favorite game.” You can also go for shopping, eat your favorite snack, or take a nap. It would help you concentrate on your studies better.

Plan a timetable:

Planning about your schedule will also help you save time. Take small breaks during study, because your brain need to recharge, and it would also help you with clarification of concepts. Also, try to change your subject after some time, so that you don’t get bored. Switching to your favorite subject after a difficult one is also a mini reward.

In any case it is human nature to lose focus, so don’t feel guilty about it. But as soon as you realize that you distracted, re-focus your mind. It is as simple as that!
