Are you ready to share your ideas? |
Are you scared of expressing yourself in public? Do you want to give a
killer presentation? No problem at all, just follow these few simple steps to
deliver a presentation that won't put your audience to sleep.
1. Eat well, sleep well:
The night before your presentation, have a good night sleep and then in the
morning have a healthy breakfast. Before your presentation drink plenty of
water in small intervals. As sounds from your dry mouth is going to annoy your
audience.
2. Know your content:
You need to research about your audience so that you speak accordingly. Once
you do that, focus on your content. Include personal stories or experiences so
that people can relate to them. One thing which I consider while delivering my
presentation is to smile because it makes you look smart.
3. Maintain eye contact:
If you want to persuade your audience, look them in the eyes. It’s similar
to talking to someone. Staring at only one person throughout the whole
presentation will indeed make others bored. So, manage to scan the room evenly.
4. Practice, practice, practice:
Practice like crazy. Know you content and relevant vocabulary. Don’t read
from paper or slides as it gives an impression that you are nervous. Rehearse
while standing in front of a mirror so that you can observe your non-verbal
communication as well.
5. Fake your confidence:
Don’t feel confident? Fake it!
Before delivering your presentation focus on your breathing (it would help you relax). Try to avoid negative thoughts, give yourself a positive feedback like “I can do this.” and “I'm so excited to share my thoughts and ideas ."
